God or Not

Today I want to take a moment and deviate from my series on Constitutional Crisis to deal with a topic that is part of the assault on Christianity in the public square: Evolution vs Creation.  I deal with this issue in the Eighth Chapter of God Shed His Grace On Thee, titled "The War Against Christianity".  Essentially, this debate comes down to where you will place your faith.  I contend that it takes more faith to believe in life from lifelessness in absence of a creator.  And theologians who take the position that the two are compatible are falling into the trap of "Hath God said,...?" as Eve did.

First, I want to deal with my fellow Christians in their acceptance of the flawed theory of evolution and attempting to make it compatible with biblical creation.  I contend that there are many critical potholes in our faith that are created when we try to make our Bible adapt to a scientific theory.

The Genesis account of creation is very clear.  "The evening and the morning were..."  Theologians attempt to spiritualize the first day of creation, when a quick word study finds the "evening and the morning" are, literally, that; an evening, and a morning: daylight and night time.  One person in their attempt at spiritualizing day one of creation stated that "The Light is the Son of God and the Son was commanded to augment himself from God the Father, before creation (God created the heaven and earth Genesis 1:1 not the Light of Genesis 1:2 & 3). The Son of God expanded his beam of radiant Light that caused the darkness to spin away from Him so that He would create the heaven and earth at the Father's commandment "Let there be"."  I am still attempting to fathom this explanation.  First, Jesus is the second Person of the Trinity.  He...is God.  He was in existence before Genesis 1:1 ever occurred.  It appears that someone is attempting to state that God the Father is splitting Himself off into a second existence in order to accomplish a task, like an amoeba would split itself to become two.  I assume then, that God the Father also split Himself off, again, into a third expression of Himself to become the Holy Spirit.

We can attempt to express ourselves in haughty terminology all we want to, but the facts are the facts:  Either God is Creator or He is not.  Either God did as He outlines in His Word, or He did not.  Even the intricacies of a one-celled organism necessary to sustain its life are more than enough proof that a creator had to have had a hand in designing it.  When you recognize that within one cell are the necessary operations and mechanisms at work to allow it to process light and nutrients in a manner consistent with its survival, you have to know that there is someone who put that operation in place in perfect harmonious interaction.

When you place creation's activity in the hands of millions of years and chance you displace the God of Heaven.  There is no need for Him.  And if you believe the idea of evolution you have to also accept that much death and destruction took place long before sin entered the picture and brought about man's fall from perfection.  And you have to accept that God brought you from a "pre-man" ape-like creature to become the sentient being you are today, not to mention all the gills and fins he took you through.  And when did man get his soul?  That unique element of mankind not shared by the remainder of creation:  a soul formulated in the eternal existence of God Himself.

STOP IT!!!  Wake up, believer!  Be a Believer or don't...  Quit attempting to make God fit in your boxes; boxes created by those who don't want to accept standing before an Almighty God and giving an account for their acceptance or rejection of Jesus Christ as Savior, and the resulting choices and actions made.  Stop playing the games set forth by a world seeking to eliminate God from everything:  creation, history, and all other elements of existence.

Stretching our theology to accommodate a scientific theory which attempts to eliminate God from the equation is ridiculous.  "Hath God said,..." appears to be an accepted argument just as surely as it worked on Eve at the dawn of time.  I become so frustrated by those who wish to listen to the Liar rather than the Truth.  In John 8:42-45, Jesus explains that the devil, Lucifer, Satan, acts as the father of all who reject the truth.  He concludes by saying, "...because I tell the truth, you do not believe me."  And here is where the Church has come.

I don't know how He did it...  I don't know how He does it...  but God is GOD...  Almighty!  Eternal; past-present-future...  Unlimited Power!  All knowing...  All observing...  Speak it and it happens in a twenty-four hour, evening and morning timeframe...  Deal with it.

Which brings me to my second point:  the Faith Factor.  Even atheists have faith.  Faith (deviating from the Hebrews 11:1 definition) is trusting that what you believe is true without tactile evidence.  It is easy to say you know God will heal you after you've been healed.  It is the before knowledge that we're talking about when it comes to faith.

The Faith Factor applies to both sides of this argument.  The evolutionists have to believe that what they say is correct, because there is no concrete evidence to evolution.  There are no animals that are "half and half" or "transitional" animals.  You're either a monkey, or you're not.  (Now there are some members of humanity that cause me pause from time-to-time, but I digress).

The atheist has to have a belief that God does not exist, even with evidences that He does all around.  They have to believe that when life ceases they will simply cease to exist and will not stand before the Almighty.  They have to believe that their intellect will only carry on in the accomplishments they make on this plane of existence and that others will remember them because of those achievements.  They put their full trust in these ideas, because to believe otherwise would cause them to have to consider that they WILL stand before God and give an account.

The believer has a trust in the idea that God not only exists, but has a vested interest in them as one of His creation.  That He loved mankind so much that He came to earth, as second person of the Trinity, to die in our place on the Cross of Calvary.  And the believer, who has not seen Heaven, trusts that it exists, and that the glorified and cleansed universe will one day serve as home to those who will accept Jesus as their personal Savior.  They will live in God's presence throughout the remainder of eternity, which is beyond our comprehension.

It is way past time for the Church to choose sides.  The creation happened as God outlined.  The flood during Noah's time occurred.  Moses and the Children of Israel crossed on dry ground through the midst of the Red Sea to victory over the Egyptians.  Jesus, Son of God, God in the flesh, came to earth as one of us to take our place and pay the price for our sin (which, by the way, was the acceptance of the "Hath God said,..." question in defying Him).  Jesus lives!  He ascended to Heaven, and is today interceding for us before the Father.  The Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost, for those of you raised during my time) lives in and through each of us in providing direction and power to accomplish what God wishes for our lives.  It is time for FAITH!

He is either God...  or He is not...  I report...you decide...

'Twas the Friday Before Christmas - 2013

'Twas the Friday before Christmas,
and all through the land,
rantings and ravings
filled airwaves as sand

The sides were all nestled
each in their own foxhole
and shouting their platitudes
without thoughts of the eternal soul

And I have my thoughts
and I know you do too
of the way things are to be
and the right things to do

When on our news channels
there arises such clatter
And opinions are issued
on multiple matters

So we type in our blogspot
and raise up the banner
and talk of the day's news
in various manner

When what to our wondering eyes
should appear?
But the reason there's hope:
that the Savior is near

And Christmas isn't Christmas
unless there's a child
Born in a manger
so tender and mild

And angels proclaiming the great news
of the King
And shepherds and wise men
their praise, let it ring!

And we must never forget
as we see how it begins
To always remember
the path to its end

For a mere three decades later
our Savior did die
On the cross of Golgotha
for our sin He was tried

And the third day thereafter
He rose from the grave
Each man, woman and child
that their souls may be saved

And not just be saved
from an eternal pit
But to live on forever
in God's presence, they may sit

And while all the turmoil
around us does crash
Let us never forget
each whip's terrible lash

Nor the price that was paid
for your sin and mine
That our crimes against Him
may be put forever behind

And, yes, we must continue
the struggle against evil's might
To bring into this world of darkness
God's true shining light

But my friend, be encouraged
don't let the anger settle in
As Christians we know in the end
we will win

So let us bring before the lost
as we confront their war against that above
The offer of Salvation
through God's eternal love

For it is not against mankind
that we battle the most
But against evil's true face
of the fallen angelic host

So in this Christmas season
as we celebrate the Son
Let us find Peace and Hope
that the war is already won

And may the star
of Bethlehem shine
Leading us into His presence
both your home and mine

Merry Christmas

Constitutional Crisis - Christmas in the Crosshairs - Knowing your Constitution - Part II

Christmas is one week and one day away.  Because of this, I have chosen to deal with the idea of the War Against Christianity from a “Christmas” standpoint today.

Christmas – the very word brings certain visions to one’s mind that do not appear but during this special season.  Christmas trees, decorative lights and tinsel, holly and mistletoe, a certain “jolly ol’ Elf and his magnificent flying reindeer, and, most importantly, a baby wrapped in ‘swaddling clothes’ and lying in a manger surrounded by an assortment of farm animals, shepherds and three particularly well-dressed men from afar, as well as his mother and earthly dad; all gazing intently down at this newborn child.  And while the wise men did not actually arrive until sometime later - "...behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was.  When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.  And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him:..." (Matthew 2:9-11) - the depiction of the Christ-child's birth has been presented in cities, towns, and hamlets from early times of our nation's history.

And then those who were intent on rewriting history and resetting our moral compass engaged in a plan which stealthily injected their ideology of decay into the foundations of society.  what had been a century-and-a-half of precedent was now cast aside.  Why?  Because throughout time there have been those intent on undermining the religious foundations of any people who serve the One true God.

Let us analyze the concept of precedent first.  I mentioned it briefly in the last post, and pointed out that it had been blatantly ignored.  A precedent is "a legal decision or form of proceeding serving as an authoritative rule or pattern in future similar or analogous cases" - and/or - "any act, decision, or case that serves as a guide or justification for subsequent situations" according to Dictionary.com.

Court rulings have upheld the ability of governments to place Nativities in their courthouse lawns, entryways, and anywhere else, including a ruling as recent as 1984 where the Supreme Court ruled that a Nativity was not in violation of the establishment clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution (Lynch v. Donnelly, 465 U.S. 668 (1984)  In fact, the Court insisted that the Constitution and associated Amendment "affirmatively mandates accommodation, not merely tolerance of all religions, and forbids hostility toward any."

And then came 1989.  The Supreme Court, ignoring the precedent of five years prior, and in keeping with the agenda of disassociating all Christianity with government (for some reason the idea of other religions doesn't seem to bother them), found that a Nativity in a government building, and, thereby, on government property, unconstitutional.

Court rulings prior to 1948 found no difficulty in an association of Christianity with government proceedings.  In fact, in the case of Holy Trinity v. the United States (143 U.S. 457 (1892), the court stated very clearly, after referring to business and government closures on Sundays, churches in every town, and other indicators, "These, and many other matters which might be noticed, add to a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation."

Then in 1948 the Supreme Court found that religious instruction in public schools was a violation of the "Establishment Clause" of the First Amendment.  (It amazes me that our Founding Fathers and 150 plus years of previous rulings and actions did not see it so.)  Then in 1961 the Court found that no state could require a public official to acknowledge the existence of God.  This was followed in 1962 and 1963 with rulings stating that no prayer could be exercised in public schools, and no Bible reading over public address systems, or any other school-sponsored activity, could be performed.  In 1968 a ruling stating that a ban on teaching evolution was unconstitutional, and this was followed by a ruling in 1987 that no school could require "creation science" to be taught whenever evolution was taught.  (Trust me, I will get to the ridiculous nature of these rulings in the future.)

Many other rulings have ignored well over one hundred years of precedent.  Had our Founders perceived that such activities were unconstitutional, they would never have initiated them in the first place!  Even the more un-Christian Founders had an active role in being certain the Bible was taught in the public schools of the nation.

And now back to Christmas.  Oh...there can be trees decorated in festive colors.  There can be other such displays.  But NO JESUS, according to many.

I watched a Sean Hannity program last week where a guest he had on the program stated that you could most definitely celebrate Christmas without religion: That a Christmas without Jesus was most definitely acceptable and could be accomplished.  REALLY?!!!  A CHRISTMAS WITHOUT CHRIST?!!!  What does he think CHRISTMAS is?

The Christian is under assault in so many ways in today's society.  I, for one, believe it is time to be certain our voices are heard.  And if our leaders cannot accommodate us in our faith, then I believe we should assist them in seeking employment elsewhere; to give them an opportunity to reestablish themselves in other work possibilities.  I believe it is time to elect those who share our values, and who will place those in judicial positions who will return us to the place we were intended to be.

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord..."  Psalm 33:12 (NKJV)

Merry Christmas to one and all.  And may the Peace of God fill your hearts this glorious season in celebration of the Born Savior, Son of God, Jesus Christ, Lord of All.

Mount Soledad Cross - A Constitutional Crisis - Knowing your Constitution - Part I

A headline in the news today raises awareness to the proclamation by U.S. District Judge Larry Burns that the cross atop Mount Soledad in LaJolla, California (San Diego area) must come down according to a ruling by the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.  Their ruling states that the cross violates the establishment clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution of the Unites States of America.  Many note that the Judge hesitated and made the ruling reluctantly as he cited the Ninth Circuit's opinion.  As many know, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is among the most, if not THE most, liberal courts in the United States.  Their rulings have been a blatant attack on the truth of the United States Constitution for years.  I will deal with this ruling as we review the matter by way of the Constitution.

First, so many believe that unless you have gone to a university and have been instructed in "Constitutional Law" you have no way of being able to interpret the Constitution.  In fact, I believe this is the foundation of the problem.  Our Founding Fathers drafted a document that could be followed and understood by the populace.  Michael "Mike" Holler has composed a book called "The Constitution Made Easy".  It provides the original wording of the Constitution of the United States of America on the left page, and the modern day translation on the opposing page.  I recommend this.  He has also produced a video copy of the "book", which I also recommend.  Today's citizen needs to know their Constitution.

I ask Americans to become aware of the Constitution's truth.  They key to the Constitution of the United States of America are the first three words in the preamble: "We the People".  If "We the People" remain ignorant of what is comprised in "our" Constitution, we are destined for defeat by those who wish to undermine our republican government.  I do not use republican in the sense of any party label.  This is another area that "We the People" need to become aware of.

It is said that when Benjamin Franklin was approached by a woman following the Constitutional Convention in 1787, and asked the question, "Well Doctor, what have we got - a republic or a monarchy?", he replied, "A republic, madam, if you can keep it."

What IS a republic?  A republic, according to dictionary.com, is "a state in which the supreme power rests in the body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by representatives chosen directly or indirectly by them."  Essentially, it is a government comprised of representatives which are elected and/or appointed by a democratic process.  The democratic process directly elects a representative who will operate in the government on their behalf.

We do not have a democracy in the truest sense of the word.  A democracy is a government where every person has a vote on every issue.  We have a democracy in the sense that we vote by democratic process to formulate a republican government.  I am not a lawyer.  But I AM a citizen.  Each citizen needs to know the truth of their place in this government.  If we do not agree with the proceedings going on, it is our responsibility to write letters, email, make phone calls, and show up at the offices of our representatives.  For this reason, it is also crucial to elect representatives who share our moral and ethical values.

In the case of the Mount Soledad Memorial cross, the rulings have been made on bad law.  As I point out in my book "God Shed His Grace On Thee", there have been proclamations from judiciary commissions in both houses of the United States Congress, as well as a ruling of the Supreme Court of the United States of America, which boldly proclaim that the United States of America is a Christian nation.  These rulings and proclamations, providing a word called precedent, have been blatantly ignored in the years from 1948 and forward.  It is time for the Supreme Court (also our representatives, appointed by the sitting President and approved by our representatives in Congress; another reason to know our Constitution) to take up this issue, and to rule against these liberal anti-Christian bigots (properly used by virtue of dictionary.com's definition: "a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion).

Get to know your Constitution.  Get to know your government.  Get to know your representatives (are they upholding YOUR values?).  Get to know your TRUE rights.  Let's rise up and make a difference once again as "We the People".

Merry CHRISTmas!!!

With the launch of God Shed His Grace On Thee this month, I have been challenged by a fresh awareness of the continued attack against the truth of Christmas.  New attempts to silence the true meaning of Christmas have arisen.  The continued efforts to stop nativities from being publicly displayed surge from those fighting to remove God from society.

While many are hustling around in shopping centers and purchasing in a wild frenzy for one special day of opening packages to unveil the "new" in our lives, it becomes more and more apparent that the "Reason for the Season" is lost on a multitude of those shoppers.

Jesus Christ came to the earth to present Himself a sacrifice for our sin.  His life began in the humble surroundings of a stable and it was brought to what appeared to be a devastating end on the cross...  But the narrative does not stop there!  If it did, the finality would be so tragic.

The culmination of the plan came on the third day "post-tragedy"!  The ground shook...  the heavens and earth trembled in magnificent thundering...  the Son of God, Jesus the Christ, burst out of the tomb!

With the birth of the Lord in the stable, we find a glorious appearing of "God with us".  With His ministry on earth we find hope in troubled times.  With His gruesome death on the cross we find salvation from sin.  And with His triumphant resurrection we find eternal life in the presence of God!

THIS is what CHRISTmas is all about!  THIS is the reason for the gifts we give and receive!  THIS is why millions across the planet pause for a day, and celebrate with family and friends.

Merry Christmas!!!!

IT IS TIME FOR CHRISTIANS TO ARISE!!!

As I recently completed the editing on "God Shed His Grace On Thee" I was once again reminded at how necessary it is for a Black Robe Regiment uprising in the great nation of the United States of America.  Never has there been a time when our nation's leadership have strayed such unimaginable distance from the essential message of Christianity as the foundation of all that this nation is built upon.
When the Supreme Court set down the rulings against prayer and Bible reading in the public schools, it was due to the fact that American Christians had bought the lie of the "separation of church and state" and had removed themselves, for the most part, from interacting in the political arena.  And the same is true for the ruling which allowed abortion to become a "right", and an amendment set to deter some non-profits from entering the political fray to keep the church from thundering the truth of political hacks who do not stand for righteousness in government.  We are led to believe that we, as Christians, cannot and must not move into political office or support those who embody our moral, ethical and Christian values.
It is our God-given right to speak out as light into the darkness.  It is our duty, as commanded by our Savior Himself, to be "salt and light" in this horrendous society of vulgarity.  Our first effort is to win the lost to Christ, and that must be coupled with the clarion cry to bring our society back to God where it belongs.
It is time for the Black Robe Regiment to stand.  It is time for the Christian to take their place where God has set them.  It is time to sound the alarm! to cry out!  This must happen in the pulpit as well as in our workplaces, our homes, and wherever God has us to travel today!

The Black Robe Regiment (from "The Constitutionalist Today" Dec.2010 issue)

The Black Robe Regiment:  a name given to those accredited by many to have had an elemental part in the American War for Independence.  Fiery sermons proclaiming the actions of Britain as violations of God-given rights issued from pulpits throughout the colonies.  Many of these members of the clergy served in various capacities of government as the fledgling nation came together.
In those times there were no warnings of The Separation of Church and State.  Rather, Continental Congress procured funding for Christian ministers to serve as chaplains in each Regiment as indicated in General George Washington’s General Orders dated July 9, 1776.  In these same orders, he later requires the troops to be gathered for the reading of the Declaration of Independence.  The same delegates drafting the separation document also felt compelled to place Christian ministers as those guardians responsible for maintaining a continued vigil of study and worship for the “Divine Providence” upon whom they had placed “firm reliance.”
General Washington urged all in the army to “attend carefully upon religious exercises.”  He further gave reason for such an order, and instruction for proper conduct.  “The blessing and protection of Heaven are at all times necessary but especially so in times of public distress and danger – The General hopes and trusts, that every officer, and man, will endeavour so to live, and act, as becomes a Christian Soldier defending the dearest Rights and Liberties of his country.”
It was this same Commander-in-Chief, after several bitter defeats and experiencing an army ravaged by desertion, who is known to have gone to prayer for direction, (a common practice for him).  With clear purpose he led the army in the now famous crossing of the Delaware River on Christmas night, December 25, 1776, in total disregard for conventional wisdom in the conduct of war.  It was the night which brought life to the Revolution.  The engagement of that operation, which proceeded into the next morning, brought hope that would ultimately lead to the triumph over the enemy years later.
Is it mere coincidence that this effort began on the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus?  On that day two thousand years ago the birth of the Savior brought hope that would ultimately lead to triumph over sin and death.  Perhaps it is, but I would like to believe otherwise.
Today our nation faces crises that threaten our God-given liberties.  Our mutual faith and freedoms guaranteed in the Amendments to the United States Constitution are consistently undermined in the name of “enlightenment.”  Judges legislate from the bench with prejudice to adjust the precepts that govern society away from their original intent.  Prayer and Bible reading have been removed from public education, and displays of Christian symbols are under attack in unrestrained litigation.
And in the midst of this, where are the champions of Christianity to take the lead as their predecessors so many years ago?  Where is the Black Robe Regiment of our day?  Who will work to proclaim the truth in reclamation of the foundational principles of religious freedom granted to Americans in the formation of this nation?
I recently attended the Freedom Congress on September 11th held at World Arena in Colorado Springs.  At the conclusion a call was given for all pastors in attendance to come down front for a brief meeting on what one could do to engage in restoring religious liberty.  One military chaplain, and one pastor, came forward.
A couple approached our small group and asked how they could encourage their pastor and church leadership to become involved.  Unfortunately, their concerns are all too common.  Many of today’s clergy have come to accept the notion of “the separation of Church and State.”
Both the United States Senate and House of Representatives issued statements in 1853 and 1854 respectively which proclaimed the United States as a Christian nation.  The Senate Judiciary Committee said, “We are Christians, not because the law demands it, not to gain exclusive benefits or to avoid legal disabilities, but from choice and education; and in a land thus universally Christian, what is to be expected, what desired, but that we shall pay a due regard to Christianity?”  The House of Representatives Judiciary Committee report stated, “Had the people, during the Revolution, had a suspicion of any attempt to war against Christianity, that Revolution would have been strangled in its cradle.
It is time for those who carry within a heart for our nation, and a Christian faith, to step forward and be counted.  You do not need to be a member of the clergy to be counted in the new Black Robe Regiment.  You merely need to be willing to speak out for your God-given freedom.
